Today’s post is one I’ve wanted to write for awhile, mostly for myself more than anyone else. It is the clarification of the purpose for me writing a blog and a recommitment to it. I don’t make enough time to write during a week and especially daily, but I hope to make it more of a habit.
I first started this blog when I was living in Los Angeles and wanted a place to express myself, especially since I wasn’t doing anything else creative out there. At first, I had the lofty goal of wanting to write a post every five days. If you look at the url for the blog, you can see that idea still lingering there. I quickly realized (as demonstrated from my last post being 9 months ago) is that I had set a goal that wasn’t really feasible for me. With work, events with my family, or plans with friends, it has been difficult to find time to sit down and finish another post. The lack of a regular blog posting schedule is also due to a bit of procrastination. I know I want to write it, but I don’t have a specific due date (since I’m the one making myself keep this page going), and so I keep putting it off until I really feel like I want to get it started again.

I am so inspired by my friends, especially Kaitlyn Pendleton (you can watch her youtube channel HERE and read her blog HERE), who can post creative content every week and sometimes even more than one type a week. Kaitlyn has run her youtube channel with an accompanying blog for several years now and always keeps it fresh with new ideas and types of videos. It always amazes me how much she is able to do and I want to model some of her ways to stay consistent.
So, in order to refocus on my blog, I want to define what I hope to do with this blog. My goal for the next couple months is to write one blog a week and set aside the time I need to get it done. There are a ton of articles and books that say making the time each day to get words down is a great outlet for people to keep their creative juices flowing. I also hope I can use it to better chronicle all the things I do and achieve here in NY. I am hoping I keep the momentum up to make lists of cool things to do in the city or to try to describe my experiences thus far, whether it be good or bad. This blog helped me find a lot of clarity when I was struggling in CA and I think it will do the same for me here (but with different results…meaning remaining in NYC for as long as I can maintain it).
Even though the title of my blog is kind of vague, I think it is the exact right title for me. It keeps the variety of posts I can write open and allows me to feel okay when I can’t get a post out. I will try to keep this motivation I have for it right now, but every so often it may wane and I am ok with that. Who knows, maybe I can make it into something I can keep up, nourish and use professionally in some way. But for now, I hope to enjoy the process of posting each week and keeping it (somewhat) consistent.
Till (hopefully) next week! 😉
