The Greatest Gifts I’ve Been Given…

Are my 4 sisters.

( I give this Oscar to my 4 SUPER STELLAR SISTERS!)

If you know me even a little bit, you will hear a lot about them. This blog post won’t really say anything that you haven’t heard before…but I just love them with every part of my being that I had to devote a post to them (and this isn’t saying that other posts won’t be dedicated to them too of course). They understand me more than anyone in the world. I can talk to them about anything. While others may not get my humor and not laugh at my “jokes,” they will (or they just laugh at my goofiness). We support each other as we try to figure out and reach our goals.

A quick overall introduction to each of them:

My sister Sarah and her husband Greg have given our family a beautiful little niece who is just the best little person in the world. Every time I Skype with them, my day is instantly made better. Sarah is the best person to talk to when you need to work through your issues or spill to about great news. She listens and takes the time to really know you. I miss visiting her in Richmond. It was always my favorite mini road trip. I never minded driving the 2 hours because I knew we would have an amazing time (whether at home playing with Lil Lily or out seeing the sights of Richmond). Even when Beth and I were younger, and she was busy with school, she always made time to see us and helped our mom take care of us when she was finishing school. She was the reason why I wanted to go to William and Mary. She has always given me a feeling of comfort in her presence. I couldn’t have asked for a more awesome oldest sister.

(See below for my praise of Heidi!)

Sandra Rose (who I call Rosie Posie sometimes) is so inspiring and her heart is into helping others. She did the Peace Corps for two years in Paraguay; and before she even did that she did City Year in Philadelphia and ran 3 marathons. She has now completed her fourth Team in Training event, the Nike Women’s Half Marathon in DC, and has raised money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. She is who motivated me to run my own marathon. I loved seeing her everyday before I moved after she returned from Paraguay. Our relationship has changed and evolved over the years to be stronger and I cherish the bond we have formed.

Beth(y Boo) is the youngest sister. My best friend since the moment she was born. She has such a blunt and honest personality that is awesome about her but can also take you by surprise at times. It has been wonderful watching her grow and figure out what she wants to do in life. She is studying Therapeutic Recreation at Longwood University. I think she will do amazing things with her major. She has one more year before she graduates. I am so excited because on May 28th she will be visiting me. It will be her first time visiting California and I CAN NOT WAIT to show her around the city and have her to keep me company for a little over a week. Plus, she’ll be here for my birthday; which is probably the most awesome present she could give me!

Heidi is the second oldest and one of the most important reasons why I felt like Los Angeles was the place I should move to for my career. It is quite a relief to have a family member, especially a sister, in this massive city. When I am feeling really lonely, I know that she is only 45 minutes away and a piece of home isn’t far from me. She was available to celebrate Easter with me and it really brightened my whole week (really my whole MONTH). We spent it with her friend Kyle and his amazing family. It was probably the most relaxing and comforting day I’ve had in awhile. Kyle’s family was welcoming and fun to talk to, the food was delicious, and I got to spend the whole time with my sister. She is such a gorgeous and strong person inside and out. Not only does she have awesome style that I have always admired since I was little, but she really knows how to take fantastic care of herself and give great advice on any inquiry about beauty, work, health, or really life in general that one may have. She moved here 14 years ago and is proof that when you make the “jump” it can pay off with hard work and dedication. She has great advice. She has been in my place before—new to a city with out many friends and having to work whatever jobs to make rent. She now has an awesome group of friends who are there for her like family. She has a really cool job and is always out and about in the city doing the COOLEST activities. I love that I have been able to see her every couple of weeks. I CAN’T wait to spend time with her and Beth in a couple of weeks—two of my family members with me in one place for the first time in 4 months!

I’m so thankful and lucky to have my family. I have no idea what life would be like without each of my sisters and my parents. They are constant reminders of how beautifully motivated and determined us Wildermuth girls are.  They have helped me realize what love means to me. I hope that when I have a family, my children feel the same way about each other the way I feel about my sisters…they are the biggest blessing I could have received in my life.
